The Parent List

11/2/2024 2:13 pm

Young children experiencing mental health issues may present with more subtle symptoms. For example, anxiety can present as recurring stomach aches, headaches, sleep disturbances or other physical complaints. Children experiencing depression may become easily irritated on a routine basis or have more frequent bouts of crying/sadness.

The Parent List contains first-hand referrals from local parents about area providers that have helped positively address their child’s: anxiety; depression; school avoidance; eating disorders; insomnia; peer relations; dyslexia; ADD/ADHD; autism and more. Much like “Angie’s List,” The Parent List is a list of resources in our community that have already been successfully used by another area parent whose child has experienced mental health, learning or behavioral issues. Insightful reviews on local doctors, therapists, support groups, inpatient and outpatient programs, tutors, nutritionists, books and holistic medical approaches may all be found on The Parent List.

Click here to read existing Parent List provider reviews.

In no way does the Hinsdale Central High or Prospect Elementary School PTOs, Hinsdale Central High or Prospect Elementary School staff, school districts 86, 63 or 181 endorse or recommend any specific provider reviewed on The Parent List. The Parent List is a subjective forum set up by the Hinsdale Central PTO for your convenience. Parents and guardians are solely responsible for deciding to use any of the service providers on The Parent List in any capacity, and district 86, district 63, district 181 and the Hinsdale Central High and Prospect Elementary School PTOs disclaim all liability for any damages, injuries, losses, expenses, or claims of any kind arising out of the provision of services by anyone or any agency appearing on The Parent List.

Family Reading Night Thank you!

10/26/2024 9:36 pm

THANK YOU to our fantastic teachers and staff for volunteering at Family Reading Night! We could not have done it without you: Mrs. Segovia, Mrs. Nolin, Mrs. Nardulli, Mrs. Awtry, Mrs. Abitz, Mrs. Matt, Ms. Scudella, Mrs. Gonzalez, Mrs. Litman, ‘Ed. Reinhardt, Mrs. Andrlik, Mrs. Wheeler, and Mrs. Bergin. Thank you to Mrs. Cummings for the endless support and to Mrs. Swanson for being the mastermind behind one of Prospect’s most beloved family events!

THANK YOU to all the students and families that attended Prospect’s Annual Family Reading Night! We know it’s a busy time of year, so the fact that so many chose to join us, connect with and celebrate our school community means the world to us! Of course, we could not host Family Reading Night without the support of the PTO. Thank you so much to the board for valuing this long-standing tradition of One Book One School and Family Reading Night. Many thanks to the D181 Foundation for helping us bring author Lauren Magaziner to D181 schools.

THANK YOU to Lauren Magaziner for a phenomenal visit to Prospect School! Ms. Magaziner had lunch with a small group of students, lead two different assemblies, personalized and signed countless books, and was featured at Family Reading Night, where she did two readings, fielded questions from attendees and signed even more books! Thank you so much for such a memorable experience for our community. You no doubt inspired many of our young authors!

Thank you to the students and families that created and loaned your family animal familiars to Prospect for Family Reading Night.  Familiars were returned to students on Friday afternoon.  If your familiar has not returned home, please see Mrs. Swanson in the library.
