5th-Grade Lego Mindstorms Robotics Club - Spring Session

2/8/2026 3:00 am

Is your child interested in robotics? Do they want to know more about coding? Prospect's Lego Mindstorms Robotics Club is a club for 5th-grade students to learn to design, build, and program robots using Lego Mindstorms EV3 kits. Because students will work in small groups to complete projects created specifically for EV3, regular attendance at club sessions is important. *Please note that students will not be able to take the robots home, as all parts will be reused from session to session.

At this time, the club is available to a maximum of 15 5th-grade students and will meet on the following Wednesdays after school until 4:20 p.m.:

February 18 & 25
March 4, 11, 18 & 25
April 8, 15, 22 & 29
May 6*

*Please note, if needed, May 6 will be used as a make-up day.

Please complete this Google Form (https://tinyurl.com/EV35th) to request registration for the robotics club before Monday, February 16. If more than 15 registrations are received, a random number generator will be used to determine participation. You will be notified of your child's participation in the club or waitlist status on February 16. If you have any questions, please contact Meredith Bailey (mbailey@d181.org).

5th-Grade Music Program: Through the Years at Prospect School

2/8/2026 2:02 am

5th-Grade Students will present their musical program “Through the Years at Prospect School” on Friday, March 6 at 2:00 p.m. in the Prospect gym. 5th-graders have brainstormed and captured their most treasured memories, moments, and descriptions of Prospect School and are working to express them through music. All family and friends are invited to attend. 5th-grade students should wear a red shirt (Prospect wear or any red shirt is great!) and dark bottoms the day of the performance (blue or black pants or skirt are good options). We look forward to seeing you there!

4th-Grade Opera for the Young - March 10

2/8/2026 2:01 am

Prospect 4th-grade students are in the midst of learning about opera! They discovered what characterizes the opera genre, the voice parts typically used in opera, and they will explore how other art forms collaborate to create a production with sets, costumes, dance, lighting, props, scripts and acoustics.

To authentically culminate their exploration of opera, students have the opportunity to perform short cameo roles alongside professional opera singers in a performance assembly of Donizetti’s famous opera “The Elixir of Love.” Please note that the majority of the opera will be performed by the visiting opera singers. Prospect students have 4 short song snippets - about 6 minutes - they they will perform. Adapted specifically for young students, this opera will be in English, have some spoken dialogue, and is only about 45 minutes long, with a question and answer session at the end. For specific information about the date, time, student attire and practice materials, please read the informational flyer.

Love Your Library - Donate a Book

2/8/2026 2:00 am

Looking for a great way to make a lasting contribution to Prospect School? Donate a book to the Prospect Library! Mrs. Swanson and Mrs. Bodrozic have added books to this Amazon Wishlist that we would like for the library. Simply choose an item, ADD YOUR CHILD'S NAME AND CLASS TO THE "GIFT MESSAGE" and buy it. Then it will be shipped to Prospect. Your child’s name and school photo will be placed in the front of the book. When it’s ready, we will offer it to them to check out first, if they are interested. If needed, we will keep adding to the wishlist until the end of February. Thank you so much for showing our Prospect library some love with new books!
