| BATTLE OF THE BOOKS CLUB

The Battle Of The Books Literary Club is designed to encourage elementary students to read quality books, to read as much as possible in their leisure time, and to read for information as well as pleasure. By participating in the program, children will be introduced to a variety of genres.

Fourth and fifth graders of all reading levels at Prospect School are given the opportunity to participate in the Battle of the Books Club. The titles are chosen by Library directors from District 181. Many titles are Bluestem award nominees. Weekly book battles will be the focus of the meetings, with questions based on plot, characters, setting, and theme. We encourage you to discuss the books at home with your child. Some of them make great read aloud!

Each participant is required to read at least SEVEN books from the list before competing in the district battle. Regular attendance at the Battle of the Books Club meetings is expected. If students miss three of the eleven meetings, they will be excused from the program. Teamwork is an essential piece to success. Teams have the best chance of earning the most points when all their members are present.
