P.E. Tips for Parents

Welcome to Physical Education (P.E.)! We are a Blue Ribbon award winning program and strive to make physical education fun, inclusive, and diversified. We need your help to achieve our goals by following these simple rules:

  • Kindergarteners need to come to school every day with gym shoes. Please do not send your child in flip flops, Crocs, or Keens.
  • 1-5th Graders must have a pair of shoes that will remain at school every day. It does not need to be a brand new pair of shoes as even an older pair or less costly pair will do
  • Students will not be allowed to participate without proper shoes. Please don’t make us sit out your child because they do not have the required shoes for class.
  • Girls must wear shorts under all dresses and skirts. Students not only sit on the rug in the classroom and music class, but they also do activities such as yoga, gymnastics, and a variety of activities where they may be inverted.

Currently, we are reviewing recess and playground rules with all of the students, assessing if students are able to tie their own gym shoes, and, for the Kindergarten classes, we are working on basic locomotor skills. These skills include skipping, galloping, hopping, balancing on one foot, and running.
