Note from PTO Presidents

WELCOME BACK!

Greetings Prospect Families!  The first day of school countdown is officially on.  We hope you have all had a wonderful summer with your families.  It’s difficult to believe another school year is right around the corner.  We would like to extend a warm welcome to all of the new families joining our community this year.  We are happy to have you here!  We are excited to represent Prospect as this years’ Co-Presidents.  We are here to help, so please reach out if there is anything we can do for you.  Looking forward to a great year!

NEWSLETTER & WEBSITE REVAMP

While school was out, your PTO was at work implementing several technology changes.  You probably noticed the first edition of our newsletter has a new format.  We are using a more automated system this year, reducing the parent volunteer hours necessary to get this news to you.  If you have visited our website recently, you’ll notice it also has a new look and is easier to navigate.

INTRODUCING A DOWNLOADABLE CALENDAR

We are very excited to introduce a downloadable school calendar!  Gone are the days of having to manually add these events to your calendar yourself!  You can find the calendar on our website (https://prospectschoolpto.org/calendar/) and subscribe to these events by scrolling down to the bottom and clicking on the “subscribe” button.  Please keep in mind, this is a working calendar and changes will occur.  However, the changes will automatically update on your device if you are subscribed.

REMIND TEXT MESSAGING: OUT OF SERVICE

In other news, we learned recently that Remind, the service we’ve used the past two years to send text messages, has changed their terms of service making what used to be a free service for our PTO now a very costly annual subscription instead.  We know these texts were valuable (Hello Hot Lunch Reminder!), and we are working with other District 181 PTOs hoping to find a solution soon.

Enjoy your last weeks of summer and we’ll see you back at school very soon!
